My Most Frequently Asked Question!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?!

A questions we ask ourselves daily. (I think this is one of the great mysteries in life.)

For those of you who don't know me, I am obsessed with clothing. I go shopping probably once every couple of weeks and I always feel like I don't have enough clothing. I have almost every staple imaginable for a wardrobe, and some really funky pieces I don't wear quiet as often. I can put together a cute outfit in a tornado while the lights are flickering. My family often teases me about always out-dressing them, or dressing up for no reason -- personally, I just call it getting dressed... I can point out almost any label or designer just by the sight of something and I consider Vogue to be my Bible.

(Here's a fun fact: before wedding photography settled in my heart I was determined to make it in New York City as the next big fashion photographer.)

So, being the fashion guru that I am, you would think that this would be the easiest question for me to answer. Well, it's not. Since I know different people are more comfortable in different things it's hard for me to say wear a summer dress, when all your closet consists of are cocktail dresses. (Cocktail dresses are usually semi-formal dresses made of chiffon. And summer dresses are usually casual, cotton dresses with a print on them.)

So how do I help my clients look their best when most people don't know the difference between boatneck and crew neck? I tell them to dress like their going out to eat to with the in-laws. You don't want to be too fancy, but you want to look presentable and like a first-class version of yourself. Most of my ladies still have a hard time with this and follow up with yet another FAQ, "Should we have more than one outfit?"

My answer: You can change as many times as you like in our time frame.

Usually by outfit change number two or three, you're comfortable enough in front of the camera (which is what really matters) so you forget you packed 12 matching outfits for you and your fiance. And lets face it, your fiance is not so happy about having to change in the car 12 times.

After scouring the internet for looks and outfits for all seasons, I finally have some picture proof answers ladies!

I love fall fashion, I'm a HUGE sucker for an oversized sweater and boots! Generally speaking, you can wear almost anything you would in the summer time, for a fall or winter shoot. Swap the sandals for boots of flats and grab a sweater and/or scarf to keep yourself warm.

Spring time is great for colored pants, since most of summer is too hot for them, and fall colors tend to lean toward earthy tones. You could dress them up with heels (if you're brave) or a cute pair of neutral toned flats should do the trick!

Summer fashion is really quiet fabulous. You can wear dresses with no nylons, tank tops with no sweaters, and sandals and flats almost every day.  If you want to dress up a little more, throw on a sparkly necklace and a blazer and call it done!

Ladies, I hope that I have answered the most frequently asked question up to your standards! I know everyone has a different style, but what's more important for your shoot is that you (and your man) are comfortable in front of the camera and you like the end results. So don't try a new outfit you're unsure of, or wear the highest heels you have in your closet.

Personally, I channel my inner diva (she's a cross between Audrey Hepburn, Jennifer Aniston and Alessandra Ambrosio) and I get in front of my full length mirror and if she doesn't 100% love my outfit, I don't wear it (unless my husband is rushing me out of the house.....)

Good luck ladies!
