Hi friends! After what appeared to be never ending traveling, coupled with and followed by never ending sickness(es), I am finally home and back to work! While I did have an amazing vacation, I must say, it is so good to be home and back into my own schedule. As promised, I have a double part blog: part one is Miss Ali's Vermont City Marathon, and part two is my half Ironman in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I traveled up to NH to visit with family and friends and support my little miss on her second marathon. It was up in Burlington, Vermont - and if you know Vermont you know that it's more often than not COLD. Especially Burlington. It's pretty much as far north as you can go, but for whatever reason the weekend of Ali's marathon they saw record heat. I'm talking sweat dripping down your back while you're standing still, southern style (I can say this now that I live in the south), even the shade is hot, hot. It was in the high 90s on race day - and a perfect trifecta of heat, sun index and humidity for the race officials to call the race when she was at mile 20... Not to worry though, Ali dodged the police officers, walked around the officials and made her way to the finish line!
I got to enjoy the sidelines (with some running around the course involved) with my favorite ladies - Mammie, Aunt Kate and Mom; and not to be forgotten - Dan the Man met us half way through the day for some beers and to carry Ali's sign as she crossed the finish line! Ali and I are so fortunate to have such awesome and supportive women in our lives, without them we probably wouldn't push ourselves to exceed their expectations on such a regular basis. I couldn't be more proud (or humbled) by Ali's amazing goal and her strength to finish in such hot weather.. who knows, maybe I've caught the marathon bug ;)
Looking good miss. As always.

In the bottom photo Ali is signaling to us that she needs water.. Which was when I began my own mini marathon to catch her (she's really, really fast) and bring her some water.
My lifelong bestie Molly also ran in the race - I ran with Mols for a little while and then caught up with her and Meg at the finish line. It think I am foreseeing a sisters race together...?Looking good miss. As always.
