This weekend Torin and two of our guy friends -- Eric and Cristian went to see the re-start of the Iditarod. The ceremonial start of the Iditarod is held in Anchorage, which Torin and I also attended on Saturday morning, the re-start is just the official start of the Iditarod. I personally am obsessed with dogs (not to mention seeing the Iditarod was on my bucket list) so this was a dream come true for me. The fluffy, snuggly, baby puppies running and barking everywhere was like being a little kid when the candy explodes out of the pinata. It was easily one of the best days of my life, but that could also be thanks to my awesome new camera, the beauty itself, the Nikon D600.
It was a crystal clear day up in Willow, Alaska, which normally means it's in the negatives but it was what I as a New England based Alaskan considered to be warm. I didn't need my hat, mittens or scarf, and my jacket wasn't zipped up to my chin. I'm not sure what spring feels like in Alaska, but, I imagine that is what it feels like. The re-start was held in the middle of a frozen lake, which I didn't realize until we were leaving (probably for the best, as I doubt I would have enjoyed it half as much).
I hope that you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the doggie babies! :)
